Popp's Booch - Brand Identity Refresh

This is a case study in which I take a local business's existing logo and make a modern, updated version of it with improved aesthetics while maintaining brand recognition.

As you can see, the brand's original logo was rather plain; just the black outline of the text on a tan background. I updated the color scheme using the two other colors that the brand uses: a dark, pastel blue-grey and purple. Both of these are featured prominently on either of the brand's two products, kombucha drinks. When choosing the font for the brand name, I knew I needed a clearly legible, sans serif font as neither of the word's Popp's Booch are common, and it needs to be easily processed. However, the phrase is also clearly an informal, friendly slang for "Kombucha." The logo is slightly tilted and the type rounded to offset the serious aesthetic being pushed by the all-capitalized sans serif logo. As someone who hardly drinks Kombucha personally, the phrase "Popp's Booch" did not mean anything to me, and I assume would not convey the brand's product or purpose to other viewers like me. To remedy this, I included the word "Kombucha" on the bottom of the label. The phrase "Community From Culture" is a shortened version of the brand's core belief stated on its Instagram: "From Culture Comes Community." I think this core value is important to highlight in the logo, and it's placement at the top of the logo adds balance to the piece as a whole.
